Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is the helicopter in this photo real?
A. Yes, the pier is mentioned as a landing site in a couple of flying guides. We get quite a lot of helicopters landing and even more passing over the sea loch in front of us. Connel airport is around 15 miles away and is a popular refuelling point. The helicopter in the photo phoned ahead and said when they were going to land and so we were ready with a camera.
Q. Are dogs welcome?
A. Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome in our accommodation. It helps to let us know when you book. Sometimes depending on the property we ask for a nominal charge to help cleaning. In the Hotel dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area but they are allowed in the Captain's bar which also serves meals.
Q. Are children welcome?
A. Yes, they are very welcome.
Q. Is there Wifi broadband and is it everywhere?
A. We have unlimited Wifi broadband with five hard wired repeater access points which should cover every area. Obviously if everyone decides to download films at the same time then things might naturally slow down. At present we do not have fibre optic broadband since we are waiting for HIE Digital and BT Open Reach to install it. They have been working on it for the last eighteen months and it is very close. As soon as it is available we will have it installed.
Q. Are you open all year?
A. The Hotel is open for accommodation and food and drinks every day apart from three days around Christmas. At that time the Hotel is closed on the 24th December, 25th December, and 26th December reopening on the 27th December at 9am in the morning. The Waterfront Lodges are open all year as are Wildwood Farmhouse and Glenachulish Bay Cottage.
Q. Are you open to non residents for food and drink?
A. Yes, we are very much open as a bar, restaurant and coffee shop to everyone.
Q. Can you call in and have just a coffee or drink?
A. Yes, we are very much open for just a coffee or a drink, or a snack or a five course meal.
Q. When do you serve food?
A. Breakfast is served 8am till 10.00am and is available to both residents of the Hotel and lodges and also to non residents. Snacks are then served until 12 noon and then from 12 noon food is served all day in the Captains bar until 9.30pm. The restaurant serves dinner from 6.00pm till 9.30pm.
Q. Can I launch a boat there?
A. Yes we have a launching slip for small boats. It would be an idea to phone ahead to make sure that it is ok to use.
Q. Do I have to book a table?
A. Both the restaurant and Captain's bar do get very busy and sometimes they are full. Booking is advisable and guarantees a table. Large parties should always book, and depending on the size of party we may also ask for a pre-order to ensure you have great service and a delicious meal!
Q. Can I book online?
