KENTALLEN WALL DIVE

The Kentallen Wall, a popular reef dive, sits just off our pier and is a great dive for seeing wildlife.

PARKING AND ENTRY

Divers can park in the hotel car park free of charge, but courtesy is appreciated - why not pop in for a post dive lunch? Entry and exit to the dive can be made easily via the slipway. From there, the wall lies about 150 meters out on a bearing of about 310 degrees. Loch Linnhe is quite sheltered, but this is a longer dive, so gas management can be a hazard according to some sources.

The sheer underwater drop is a great example of the West Coast's complicated seabed patterns, formed by quaternary glacial periods eroding and depositing material over millennia. The wall plunges from 15 to over 30 metres, and divers can see peacock worms, sea squirts, and dahlia anemones on the rock face, with velvet crabs and squat lobsters on boulders and in crevices. A plethora of other wildlife can be found in the area, including king scallops, sea pens, and even occasionally octopuses, as they are drawn to this sheltered, prey-rich environment of crabs and small fish.
